Carta is an authors’ blog on politics, economics and digital publicity. In 2009, Carta was awarded the Grimme Online Award in editing and authorship. In their statement, the jury writes: “‘Carta’ offers professional and original online journalism that isn’t like the old media. ‘Carta’ places its content emphasis on the media turmoil caused by the web as well as on topics of media publishing, politics and economics. What the website offers is a more serious, more independent and more relevant journalism and is on its way to becoming a media publishing brand name on the web.”
Carta is non-partisan and independent. Carta is committed to the norms of quality journalism, but does not claim to be a journalistic product in the classical sense. Many Carta contributors are actually authors and experts, rather than journalists.
Carta is primarily interested in interpretive-analytical texts. Carta is in no way completed, but is still slowly finding its stance, its limits and its roll.
The name ‘Carta’ is derived from the Latin word for paper. We just liked it. At the same time, it pays respect to the classical medium for journalism and discourse.
Carta is a non-profit project that distributes its earnings amongst its authors. It is published by Robin Meyer-Lucht.
Carta is open to suggestions, criticisms and new authors. We can be reached at redaktion[at]carta.info or via telephone at 030 / 440 440 00 or 030 / 40 50 51 91.
