Josu Mezo has a degree in Law (Deusto), Masters in Social Sciences (Juan March Institute in Madrid) and is a Doctor of Political Sciences (Autonomous University of Madrid). He is a lecturer at the Castilla-La Mancha University in Toledo.

His academic works are related to public policy themes especially linguistics and environmental policies.
