Manuel Almeida is a multifaceted creater whose activity has gravitated around three fundamental axes: music, literature and journalism.

Author of numerous literary texts (poetry, drama, short story), his first semi-professional steps were directed, however, at songwriting, as a founding member of and songwriter for the group Nueva Semilla – in September 1979, involved in what was then called ‘nueva canción canaria’ (‘new canary song’), a strong movement influenced by major figures in songwriting in the sixties and seventies.

In September 1990 he began his career as a professional singer. He produced two full length albums: Nueva Semilla and En Movimiento before submerging himself completely in the world of media. During this period he achieved his greatest musical successes, getting onto the national lists of Cadena Dial and Cadena 100, recording nationally syndicated programs for TVE and gleaning numerous critical and commercial successes.

In April of 2004 he became active online with the launch of several web projects: Proyecto Isla , blogs Mangas Verdes and Útil y ¡Gratis! (Useful and Free!), and musical on the web Cuando calienta el sol (When the sun heats up), which would later incorporate a photo blog Imagina (Imagine), the forum Foro MV or the microblog Perlas (Pearls), among others.
