Paul Jorion, anthropologist and sociologist, columnist at Le Monde and commentator on BFM Radio, has taught at the Free University of Brussels, Cambridge University and Paris-VIII. He’s also worked at the United-Nation (FAO). He was a financial engineer in France, Great-Britain, the Netherlands and the United-States from 1990 to 2007.
Paul Jorion is a specialist in the anthropology of knowledges: his book Comment la vérité et la réalité furent inventées (How truth and reality were invented) was published in November 2009, Gallimard –Bibliothèque des sciences humaines. He also published Investing in a Post-Enron World, MacGraw-Hill 2002, along with three books about the crisis: Vers la crise du capitalisme américain ? (Towards the crisis of American capitalism ?), La Découverte 2007 and republished by Le Croquant 2009, L’implosion, la finance contre l’économie : ce que révèle et annonce la « crise des subprimes » (The implosion, finance versus the economy: what is revealed and heralded by the sub-prime crisis), Fayard 2008 and La crise, des subprimes au séisme financier planétaire (The crisis, from sub-prime loans to the planetary financial earthquake), Fayard 2008. His most recent work about finance, L’argent, mode d’emploi (Money, instructions for use), Fayard 2009, was published in October 2009.
